Assasination of Farnz Ferdinand
World War 1 started when Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated on June 28, 1914. Archduke Franz Ferdinand from Austria, was assassinated in Sarajevo on 28 June 1914, and the wife of Franz Ferdinand, Sophie of the Duchess of Hohenberg, was fatally wounded by Gavrilo Princip. Princip was one of six killers recruited by the Bosnian Serb and Black Hand secret society, The assassination's political objective was to split off the South Slav territories of Austria-Hungary in order to merge them into a Yugoslavia. The motives of the conspirators corresponded to the movement which was later called "Young Bosnia."
